Woven and Coated High Performance Technical Fabrics
Fothergill Engineered Fabrics Ltd is a leading European-based weaver and knitter of glass fibre, aramid and carbon fibre. We also manufacture specialist hybrid fabrics and utilise other fibres, such as stainless steel, in our weaves.
Our history can be traced back to 1847, when we were formed as a partnership between Thomas Fothergill and Alexander Harvey, commencing cotton weaving in 1848. From supplying the British Army with uniforms in the Boer War, progressing to glass fibre weaving in 1945, aramid weaving in 1972, to our latest addition to our weaving portfolio – carbon fibre – Fothergill has stood the test of time and continues to develop its’ product range, customers, equipment and – most importantly – its’ people. Fothergill Engineered Fabrics Ltd is among the leading European weavers of S2 Glass for use in anti-ballistic applications.
The Company operates fully staffed on-site laboratories with temperature and humidity controlled environments for testing in-coming materials, in-process production and finished goods, as well as for developing new products to either industry standard or customer bespoke applications.
